Whether or not you buy into Luka Dončić really comes down to one question: can the Lakers put him in a position to reach that seemingly limitless ceiling? We kind of think they can.
The only thing that broke down in the Maverick's’ system under Dončić was their belief in him. If they Laker’s—who do believe in him—run the same system and continue to build upon it, we think we’ll be seeing them going on deep playoff runs for years.
Playing 20 seasons is a tall order—only 11 players in league history have ever pulled it off. But Luka, still just 26 and entering his eighth season, has time on his side. If his renewed focus on conditioning sticks, he just might have the longevity to get there.
Admittedly, we didn’t think we’d get to the end of this exercise and say what we’re about to say. But Luka Dončić might actually be a solid long-term hold. Even at a buy in of $1400.
