22-60.
That was the win/loss record for the storied San Antonio Spurs in the 2022-23 season. This season, they flipped the script, closing out 2025-26 at 62-20.
The reason?
That miserable season three years ago landed them a draft pick that didn’t just change the trajectory of one team. It reshuffled the entire NBA landscape. The Spurs drafted Victor Wembanyama.
He’s the most coveted player in the modern card market, and it isn’t really that close. Gregg Popovich got to develop the league’s next great big man the same way he’d done with David Robinson and Tim Duncan. San Antonio’s always had that “put your head down and do the work” mentality, and this kid slotted right into that system. On paper, it was built to work.
Three seasons in, with Wemby tearing it up in the playoffs and chasing that first ring, let’s take a look at his stats, his situation, how he stacks up against the greats, and what his future could look like. Are the sky-high prices for even his more common cards where they should be?
Let’s rip in.
