Today, we’re going to look over 2025 Panini Absolute Football.

Absolute Football is traditionally the third affordable-to-the-masses release in Panini’s football lineup — but it’s just the second time we see rookies in their official NFL uniforms, following Donruss.
This year’s set features 200 total cards: 100 veterans and 100 rookies. Panini is keeping its newer rollout model with Hobby Megas and Hobby Blasters sitting between full Hobby and retail offerings. The staggered release will stretch over a full month, with retail not hitting shelves until early December.
Chase Cards to Know: Let’s be honest — Absolute has been, and always will be about the Kaboom! insert, one of the most coveted inserts for both Football and Basketball in the hobby. For 2025, alongside the familiar Gold and Green parallels, Panini’s adding an unnumbered Purple Kaboom! to the chase lineup.

Here’s a look at the key names collectors will be chasing.
Travis Hunter, WR/CB - Jacksonville Jaguars
The two-way star hasn’t quite met the offseason hype halfway through the year, but he remains one of the most collectible non-QBs in the hobby.
Jaxon Dart, QB - New York Giants
Dart’s a clear standout in what’s shaping up to be a somewhat flat rookie QB class. With Shedeur Sanders benched and Cam Ward struggling in Tennessee, Dart’s strong play has collectors refocusing their attention his way.
Cam Skattebo, RB - New York Giants
Skattebo’s season-ending ankle injury cut short what was shaping up to be a breakout campaign. But in the short window we saw, the hobby was all-in — and that buzz will likely carry into his early card market.
Ashton Jeanty, RB - Las Vegas Raiders
We’ve only seen flashes of what Jeanty can do, but it’s clear the talent is there. Unfortunately, the Raiders being such a mess isn’t doing him any favors. Still, the hobby has taken notice — if this team ever gets its act together, Jeanty’s cards could see a serious bump.

🎯 Verdict
Is this Rippable, Stashable, or Junk Wax?
At The Hobby Wire, we keep it simple:
Rippable → A product you should bust down the door of your local shop or retail store to rip right away. The checklist, price, and excitement all line up.
Stashable → Not the flashiest release, but worth grabbing a box or two to tuck away. Time will tell if the rookie class or prospects pan out.
Junk Wax → Hard pass. Either overpriced, overproduced, or saddled with a weak class — leave it on the shelf.
👉 Verdict: Junk Wax.
We’re finding it really hard to find value in this product. Historically, Absolute tries to be the flashy, yet affordable line in the football landscape. But these base cards and parallels never seem to hold as much long term value compared to other Panini Football releases.
Outside of blasters, the cost per card is laughable. Yes, Panini sweetens the deal as prices climb — but this rookie class doesn’t justify the spend for us. For most collectors, 2025 Absolute is feeling like a glorified lottery ticket for a Kaboom! pull.

Sure, those retail odds sound tempting. But not all Kabooms are created equal — and if you don’t hit a rookie QB, chances are you’re underwater no matter the format.
